Jerry Saltz on the Outsider Art Fair — and Why There’s No Such Thing As ‘Outsider’ Art Response

A lot of artist were not being put out into a lot of museums because they were considered 'outsider' art, because they did not receive the proper training because they did not go on to high education. I agree with Saltz that it is time for museums and everyone to accept Outsider art and not make a distinction on what is good art and what is bad art. It's crazy that we still live by these rules,  millions of artists art are not being shown just because they lack education which doesn't mean they lack skill.
'Linda Nochlin wrote  in 1971, asking, "Why have there been no great women artists?" Women couldn't become great artist because they were not allowed to be trained because they were thought to be to pure, and were not allowed to look upon nude bodies. So women were never to be seen "great" and as being a woman I think it is horrible women's skill were being over looked and not accepted.
I think it is beautiful that they made an Outsider Art Fair so all the amazing artist being over looked have a chance to go out and show the world their talent, artwork, and message to the world. Hopefully because of these fairs it stops being called 'Outsider' art, and these artist will be discovered can get their work in the MoMA or any museum and make a name for themselves, other than an Outsider.
